Finance Manager

Having recently become employee-owned, we are building a senior management team to take the business forwards and are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team.


This is a hands-on role with supervision of a finance assistant. It is a new position which is part of a succession programme. It will ultimately take control of the Finance Team and have full accounting responsibility. It will contribute to overall business management and improvement.


  • Oversee, monitor and report on budgets, management and financial accounts and everyday accounting
  • All aspects of financial management control including monitoring and control of cash flow and banking, client invoicing and payments, supplier payments
  • Review, produce and manage finance related documents and activities, including MIS, bank and accountants updates, Tax and VAT requirements
  • Management of Payroll
  • Preparation of Audit data and liaison with Auditors


  • Develop, drive and implement new initiatives, minimise costs and overheads without compromising service
  • Work with the Senior Management Team to identify, inform and drive operational changes to benefit the profitability and growth of the business
  • Analysis of project performance and provision of information for and involvement in project costing / quotations

Candidates should:

  • Demonstrate a professional manner and ensure that the highest levels of confidentiality are adhered to at all times.
  • Have a desire to work with the business both operationally and to shape the strategy and drive performance improvement.
  • Be open to joining in a management level role to support the succession plan for the present Finance Director.

Experience required:

  • Previous experience of heading up a finance function is essential as the Senior Management Team will be looking for you to bring expertise and to add value to the business.
  • Experience of working in an SME, preferably within a service industry would be beneficial.
  • Good working knowledge of SAGE accounts and payroll.
  • Strong Office skills – particularly Excel.

  •   Full time (37.5 hours per week)
